Spier Wine Estate is the venue for HYPOTHESIS XV. Spier offers professional and modern conferencing facilities, in a historic setting dating back to 1692. The Spier estate is located in the Cape Winelands and is one of the 29 WWF conservation champions venue in South Africa. The historic wine farm is located just 25 minutes from the airport and 40 minutes from Cape Town city centre. The estate houses a four-star hotel, three restaurants, a spa, numerous activities, and of course the wine farm with tasting area itself, all in close proximity of each other.
Spier, near Stellenbosch, is one of South Africa’s oldest wine farms. While rooted in this heritage, it has a vibrant and conscious energy, and is home to one of the largest collections of contemporary South African art.
Cape Town International Airport is Africa’s most award-winning airport. As Africa’s 3rd largest airport, it processes over 8 million passengers annually with over 50% of the country’s air passengers passing through the airport. It is the primary airport serving Cape Town.
Located approximately 20 km from the city, and 30 km from the Spier venue, the airport has domestic and international terminals. Internationally, the airport offers direct flights to several destinations in Africa, Asia and Europe, and many more via Tambo International Airport (Johannesburg). Cape Town is a two-hour domestic flight from Johannesburg and on average there are flights every half hour between the two cities with a variety of domestic carriers.
